The story: this is a 1,035lb mako caught “sport fishing” off Nova Scotia, Canada. The shark was able to tow a 42-foot fishing boat backwards through the water at 7 knots for an hour or so, before drowning. Sadly, the fishermen did not. It takes a long time for a mako to get to be this size. Another mature apex predator is removed from the ecosystem, for “sport”.
